SOCIOECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY & UPWARD MOBILITY
Every choice leads to a path, every path leads to a door, every door leads to an opportunity, and every opportunity leads to your time to shine. But what do you do when today's opportunities and resources are either hidden behind locked doors or deliberately kept away, far out of reach from black and brown communities, preventing families from being able to improve their quality of life. These are opportunities and resources that can potentially help families climb up the social economic ladder to escape poverty.

Economic opportunity and upward mobility are two vital concepts that creates the notion that in order to improve one's economic and social status, economic opportunities such as resources, employment, capital, education for higher learning, training programs, affordable housing, quality healthcare, and affordable clean energy all has to be available and accessible to enable people to pursue their goals and aspirations. To achieve economic success, both economic opportunity and upward mobility are dependent on investing in human and social capital to improve one's socioeconomic status.
JUSTICE
40RMULA
Groundbreaking, historical, and unprecedented, the Justice40 Initiative initiated to support Executive Order 14008, signed by President Joseph R. Biden started with acknowledging the role that the Federal Government played in shaping systemic racism. In their efforts to correct past wrongs of generational oppression, disinvestment and marginalization, the Justice40 Initiative has placed responsibility on the Federal Government to uphold a commitment of providing more resources and directing a minimum of 40 percent of Federal investments towards clean energy, climate and environmental actions, affordable sustainable housing and other investments to underserved and marginalized communities. Investments will go directly to disadvantaged communities that are mostly affected by poverty, pollution, climate change and other environmental hazards. THE FIGHT AGAINST ALL ODDS
THE HEALTH EPIDEMIC
Many inequalities that exist in the United States today are mostly experienced by people of color. The wide range of challenges, barriers, and obstacles that continuously flood low-income households significantly impacts the lives and well-being of families generation after generation. These challenges are systemic barriers that were put in place to prevent people of color from building wealth and bringing into realization the American Dream.
Historically underserved, marginalized, and low-income communities, particularly communities of color, are dangerously distressed and are being deprived of many essential goods and services that are necessary to live a decent quality lifestyle.

ADVANCING RACIAL EQUITY NOW
While working towards our global efforts of sustainability, America continues to evolve into a more just and equitable nation. As a means to reconcile our past and right the many wrongs that has been done towards Blacks, Indigenous, and People of Color, the Federal Government publicly announced the existence of systemic racism. In the White House, efforts are being made to advance racial equity to affirm the rights and dignity of Black, Brown, and Indigenous people. Take a look at how President Joe Biden made history by signing Executive Order 13985.
Climate change disproportionately affects the low-income household because of geographic vulnerability, having few financial resources, and limited access to helpful resources and opportunities. Climate change, environmental hazards, and pandemics often exacerbate health conditions and poverty outcomes in these communities. A wide range of challenges, obstacles, and barriers continues to generationally threaten the livelihood, growth & development, and the upward mobility of Black and Latino families. These issues include poverty, malnutrition, lack of access to healthcare, inadequate education, gun violence, drug infestation, environmental pollution, discrimination, social inequality, political instability, natural disasters, and mental health issues. Because of this, poor people are forced to make poor choices because of their lack of not having enough. Those affected are being forced to live in poor conditions, leading to poorer outcomes, and live poor quality of lives with high levels of stress that in many cases leads to poorer health outcomes that ultimately lead to shorter life spans in a repeated cycle generation after generation. This crisis demands attention! The Fight Against All Odds highlights significant barriers that people of color face when it comes to fighting for Social Justice, Economic Justice, Environmental Justice, Climate Justice and Energy Justice.

ORGANIZING COMMUNITIES
INFUSED WITH POWER
Giving power to the people is one thing, taking power is another, but when a person already possesses power, one can neither give it nor take it away. On the other hand, when you have a long legacy of systemic oppression from the economic, education, housing, energy, child welfare and the criminal justice system, the people's power can diminish over time.
At a grassroots level we are working together to strengthen the confidence, determination, and resilience of community members by augmenting the power of the people to ultimately pull together, join forces, and collectively organize democratic activism. This is necessary to empower the people to fight for what is right, to stand against anything that threatens the health & well-being of the people, to combat the issues that interfere with the growth & development of the community, and to address the factors that hinder upward mobility for black & brown families. These issues make it very challenging for individuals to improve their socioeconomic status.
RACIAL HEALING & EQUITY
Restoring individuals, families, and communities to wholeness begins with acknowledging and speaking the truth about the historical wrongs that was produced by systemic injustices, how they have contributed to racial disparities, and then begin to repair the damage that has already been done by acknowledging and addressing the harm caused by racism through racial healing conversations in safe diverse social settings. Addressing the historic effects behind systemic racism, and building on the truth that the power, dignity and value that every individual possesses and has to contribute to not only the advancement of black and brown communities but to the advancement of the human race, is vital to our movement to accelerate in driving systemic change.

SYSTEMIC RACISM
PUBLIC ENEMY #1
Systemic racism is a real form of racism that is carried out not through actual people but are deeply embedded in the laws, practices, institutions, structures and policies of the past that promote and sustain racial inequality that shapes and govern our society preventing people of color from reaching their highest potential. Its effects are mostly felt through out the black and brown community.
The impact of systemic racism perpetuates itself through various mechanisms that accepts and allows racial inferiority and reinforces racial disparities and maintains racial inequalities. Our efforts in dismantling systemic racism starts with recognizing that it exists and collectively challenging those structures to work towards a more just and equitable future.
Our confronting and addressing systemic racism will require a multifaceted approach to the underlying racial injustices and the issues that threatens the health & well-being of the people as well as the growth & development and upward mobility of black & brown families and communities. Eliminating structural barriers that prevent people of color from reaching their highest potential is a crucial step toward achieving equity and justice for all.

Health Disparities
The disproportionate inequities are astonishing, and they all point to race. We seek to reverse the damage that has already been done to black and brown communities beginning with racial healing. Data regarding poverty rates, incarceration rates, access to affordable healthcare, wealth and wages shows evidence that there are systemic barriers to success for people of color. These disparities are significant issues deeply rooted in historical and systemic inequalities.
